The Sacred Loop ~

As a young child sitting in a classroom, I often found myself gazing down at my papers, lost in daydreams that drifted far beyond the teacher’s voice. My pencil would wander too—tracing, looping, and doodling my favorite number: 8. Soon I would be transported into the magical places of my imagination, entertained by wonder and curiosity—daydreaming to the 8th power!

One day, I learned that when turned on its side, that same 8 becomes the infinity symbol of endlessness, limitlessness, the eternal flow. The words felt immense, too vast for my child-mind to comprehend. Still, I was fascinated. I’d draw it in the sandbox, sketch it in my notebooks, trace it over-and-over until my thoughts stretched the inside of my brain like the symbol itself—looping endlessly, reaching for understanding.

Over time, I discovered its deeper roots—from the ancient Ouroboros, the serpent devouring its own tail,  symbolizing the cycles of life, death, and rebirth. The infinity symbol also mirrors the infinite nature of the universe – a window into the soul. Consider the balance of the opposing forces: yin and yang, light and dark – each existing because of the other, merging unity, interconnectedness, and wholeness.

In my own life, the infinity symbol inspires me toward creative endeavors and asks me to expand my thinking beyond what I believe is possible – in the world and within myself. When I feel out of balance, the symbol reminds me to seek harmony and simply “go with the flow.”

I recall as specific shamanic astrology journey where I energetically traveled into the constellation of Taurus. There, the infinity symbol emerged as stars in alignment, wrapping themselves around and throughout my own light body – creating a dance of color and motion, all in rhythmic measure – before gently placing me upon the back of a bull in an open field beneath the moonlit sky. Together, we strolled through that field – two souls filled with abiding love – leaving only the imprint of the infinity symbol across Mother Earth’s soft soil.

Today, my relationship with the infinity symbol feels intimate – an unbreakable bond of eternal love that transcends time and space.

During my studies of Esoteric Acupuncture, where sacred geometry is paramount, I discovered that the infinity symbol’s name in algebraic geometry is lemniscate. Derived from the Latin meaning, “decorate with ribbons,” the word sounds like a blessing.  Since then, each time I wrap a gift, I intentionally tie an infinity bow – a silent prayer woven into the ribbon: May you receive this present along with the beauty of infinite possibilities.

Infinity reminds us that all infinite possibilities exist within. Within even the tiniest of spaces lies immeasurable depth and potential—thus, infinity is truly both massive and minuscule, both eternal and intimate, ever unfolding.

I invite you to attune to the flow and movement of this sacred loop. Allow that rhythm to live within your own energy field and notice how it shifts the way you move and think throughout your day. For a touch of playfulness, swing your arms in a figure-eight motion and imagine soaring to the 8th power! Or, best yet, the next time you bend down to tie your own shoes (or your child’s) offer a sacred prayer for infinite possibility.

Infinity, you are the eternal and the now. You remind me that divinity lives within – and for that, I am grateful.

In honor of you, Infinity—my eternal muse.
And so it is.
